ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Europe improves its offer with Ilva tube plants

November 9th, 2018

From November 1st 2018, ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Europe will assume the full operational management of the three Small Welded tube mills of the previously named company Ilva. The announcement came after a deal was reached at Group level on beginning of September 2018 between ArcelorMittal and trade unions over its proposed acquisition of the Italian flat steel producer.

The new Cluster will be named ArcelorMittal Italia. As far as the Small Welded Tube is concerned, ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Europe will manage the strategy, sales and marketing, and industrial development of three industrial sites: two located in Italy (Salerno and Racconigi) and one in South-East of France (in Sénas). These sites manufacture Small Welded tubes, mainly for Construction and Industry sectors.

Managing these 3 additional assets within Tubular division will allow them to operate a turnaround, benefiting from the Group experience, vision and leadership. Furthermore, this will improve our proximity to the market with a better and complementary geographical presence. The Group will support Salerno, Racconigi and Socova (Sénas) to promote their products and develop their sales via its European sales network, which should open new markets and opportunities. As Jeyachandran Rajasekaran, CEO of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Europe, puts it: “Ilva brings intrinseque value to the Tubular team to fulfill our strategic goals.”
